U.S. Bank 2007 Skyway Open

Four Minnesota RollerGirls will be just a few local celebrities to play a round of mini-golf for the US Bank 2007 Skyway Open. This 18-hole scramble mini-golf tournament will feature professionally designed golf holes by leading Minneapolis based architects set up throughout the downtown skyway system. The charitable goal of the Skyway Open is to raise money for Minneapolis SafeZone, a 501c3 non-profit. Minneapolis SafeZone was formed in January 2005 based on the premise that in Downtown Minneapolis, there are 13 private security officers for every law-enforcement officer and that by leveraging security officers and their resources, we can decrease crime. Since SafeZone began in January of 2005, robbery and Auto theft has decreased 20%.

The Minnesota RollerGirls will play a round of Full Contact Musical Chairs with Crunch, the Timber Wolves Mascot and six of Crunch's NBA mascot friends. The Mascots will get a little taste of Derby action as they don skates and battle against some of the toughest girls Minnesota has to offer! The event will take place at Half-Time during the WOLVES vs. SUNS game and is part of Crunch's Birth Day Bash!

Guest appearance and book signing

On Saturday, March 3rd, we'll have an extra special guest joining us for the bout: Melissa (Melicious) Joulwan of the Texas Rollergirls. Melicious is touring the country to promote her book, Rollergirl: Totally True Tales from the Track, which is an insider's look at the sport, its genesis, and where it's come in the past few years. Melicious will have copies of the book available for sale, thanks to Magers & Quinn, and she'll be signing them too. So don't be afraid to step up and ask one of the first derby girls of our generation for her autograph. We're pretty sure she won't bite you!
